Martha Lanier's tumor was small and found during the early stages, but she opted for an aggressive approach in her fight against breast cancer. She chose to have a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction using an abdominal free TRAM.

Martha discovered that decreasing stress, increasing humor and maintaining a positive attitude helped her recover, get into top physical condition and compete in her first triathlon just one year after her surgery
